A one day “Kisan Mela and Sangosthi” was organized at KVK Haridwar Dhanauri on 04.03.16. The Hon’ble Chief Minister Uttarakhand, Shri. Harish Rawat Ji graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Mohd. Furkan Ahmad MLA and Parliamentary Secretary, Govt of Uttarakhand, Sh. Kunwar Pranabd Singh “Champian” MLA (Cabinet Rank), Sh. Haridas MLA (Cabinet Rank), Sh. Surendra Singh (State Minister Rank), Sh. Virendra Saini (State Minister Rank), Rao Sher Mohammad (State Minister Rank), Sh. Kiran Pal Valmiki (State Minister Rank), Sh. Sanjay Chopra, Chairman Mandi Parishad also attended the Kisan Mela. Alongwith these DM-Haridwar, CDO, Joint Magistrate, SSP, CAO, CVO, DHO were present. The technical session was chaired by Dr. Y P S Dabas, Director Extension Education, GBPUA&T Pantnagar, Dr. Uniyal, Dr. Dimri, Dr. S C Mourya and Dr. Brajesh Singh of GBPUAT Pantnagar.
The Scientists of KVK and G B Pant University of Agri. & Tech., Pantnagar delivered lectures on scientific agriculture practices in the field of Agriculture, Horticulture and Animal Husbandry. The exhibition included the stalls of Line Departments such as Agriculture, Horticulture, Sericulture, Fisheries, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry, Sugarcane and Sugarcane Industry, UREDA, Jalagum, Organic Board, US &TDC. Other stalls included stalls of IFFCO, KRIBHCO, IIT Roorkee, 5 stalls from Farm Machinery, 2 stallls of Agricultural Implements, 6 stalls from Pesticides, 4 stalls of veterinary medicine. The farmers fair was attended about 1600 farmers. Hon’ble Chief Minister suggested that there should be all round development of the farmer’s community. He said that at present District Haridwar is in No 2 position in Food Production in State and suggested that farmers and Agriculture should work to place district haridwar at First position in Food Production. He suggested that farmers should be given short duration vocational trainings on backyard poultry, Bee Keeping, mushroom production, Dairy Farming, Nutritional Garden, Candle making, Vermi Compost and soil testing.
There was overwhelming response of the farmers. Farmers appreciated the kisan mela, exhibition and the latest technologies that were discussed by the scientists and displayed in the exhibition stalls. The farmers suggested that more such melas and sangosthi should be organized for enlightenment of the farmers.
